Although I am discovering flickr.com for the social networking side of photography. And they have recently allowed video uploads. And if you have att dsl, then you have a yahoo account with provides unlimited flickr storage (otherwise $25/yr).
Short answer: as a family person for sharing memories, picasa is best. As a photo hobbyist, flickr is better.
